103 officials from the State Police Regional Administrations during a five-week training cycle in May and June of this year developed knowledge in issue of economic crime investigations in the field of combating illegal distribution of audiovisual content. Combating illegal content is one of the priorities identified by the State Police.
A total of 103 State Police officials participated in the training cycle – 28 from Vidzeme Regional Administration, 24 from Latgale, 22 from Riga Region, 17 from Kurzeme and 12 from Zemgale Regional Administration.
Experts from the National Electronic Media Council (NEPLP), SIA Baltcom, a member of the “On Legal Content” association and the State Police, participated in the training. Experts shared valuable knowledge about illegal audiovisual content and how to limit the spread of these types of crime in Latvia. During training, experts focused on the protection of audiovisual content and information room, including by sharing experience with examples of criminal or administratively punishable behaviour. In turn, the NEPLP representative presented the participants with a legitimate basis for the distribution of audiovisual content, while experts from the telecommunications company Baltcom shared different television systems and their technical expertise.
The trainings are implemented within the framework of the European Economic Area financial instrument 2014-2021 period programme “International Police Cooperation and Combating Crime” project No.EEZ/VP/2020/1 “Support to the State Police for increasing effectiveness and quality of economic crime investigation in Latvia””.
