Last week, on February 27 and 28, the officers from the State Police Cyber Crime Combatting 3rd Division organized an international seminar titled “OSINT Workshop for Nordic and Baltic Countries,” which gathered industry experts to strengthen cooperation and promote the exchange of experience in the field of digital investigations. The seminar was organized within the framework of the initiative No. EEZ/DSF/VP/2024/3 “Digital Investigation Support,” funded by the Bilateral Cooperation Fund of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 program “International Police Cooperation and Crime Prevention.”

The aim of the seminar was to enhance cooperation and promote the exchange of experience in combating cybercrime, serious and particularly serious crimes, and national internal security threats between the Baltic and Nordic countries. During the seminar, participants discussed current trends in open-source intelligence (OSINT), research and development (R&D) of tools, assessed the importance of these tools in investigations, and shared practical solutions to help more effectively address security threats.

The seminar was attended by more than 50 participants from various law enforcement agencies, including the State Police Cybercrime Combating Department, the Estonian Cybercrime Bureau, the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau, the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation, Norwegian Police, Europol's Digital Support Department, the Constitution Protection Bureau, the State Security Service, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, the National Armed Forces Military Police, CERT.LV, as well as cooperation partners from France and Sweden.

The Bilateral Cooperation Fund initiative “Digital Investigation Support” is implemented under the EEA Grants 2014-2021 program “International Police Cooperation and Crime Prevention”, managed by the Ministry of the Interior. The implementation period is from November 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, with a total funding of €149,273.
