Within the framework of Activity 5 of project LV08/3 "Improvement of Standards in State Police Short-term Detention Centres" of Norwegian Financial Mechanism implemented by the State Police, reconstruction/renovation was performed in 21 objects of the State Police – 10 short-term detention centres and 11 premises of temporary keeping in the whole territory of Latvia.
Five-lateral (Latvian – Lithuanian –Estonian – Finnish –Swedish) Police and Border Guard authorities chiefs meeting in Jurmala, Latvia 2016. gada 24. marts
March 16th, first day of the meeting, included exchange of views on the five-lateral police cooperation plan, its implementation and forthcoming activities; exchange of information on organized crime tackling in Baltic Sea region, considering the fact that Latvia is planning to preside Baltic Sea region Task Force from 2017-2019, more extensive discussions took place on future challenges and priorities; as well as the Lithuanian Police department enlightened with the police reform in Lithuania.
Media Accreditation for Events of March 16 in Rīga 2016. gada 14. marts
In order to provide the media representatives with the opportunity for comfortable, coordinated and smooth coverage of events of March 16 in Rīga centre, the State Police will carry out the media accreditation prior to the event and will hand out colourful vests for the media representatives.
The Winner of the European Crime Prevention Award is The Netherlands 2015. gada 30. decembris
On 17 December 2015 this year’s European Crime Prevention Award (ECPA) was awarded in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg during the Best Practice Conference (BPC). It was again a great success since 20 countries participated with their best national crime prevention projects, focusing on the theme ‘Cybercrime’. The winner received a check of 10 000 euro, while two other projects were also awarded with an honourable mention and a check of 5 000 euro each.

Policewomen mobilise against trafficking 2015. gada 6. oktobris
Human trafficking is a crime that transcends national boundaries. The Nordic-Baltic Network of Policewomen wants to expand the cooperation against gender-related violence. Next week they will meet in Riga to discuss strategies.
European Crime Prevention Network hands over flag to Luxembourg 2015. gada 2. jūlijs
On 29-30 June, the second board meeting of the European Crime Prevention Network (EUCPN) took place at the National Library of Latvia. During the meeting participants discussed issues related to organised crime and how to provide support to the European authorities in combating it.
International conference on psychological and medical selection of police personnel to take place in Jūrmala 2015. gada 10. jūnijs

During the meeting of the Network of EU Contact Points for Tackling Cross-Border Vehicle Crime (CARPOL) which took place on 19-20 March, there was a discussion on how to combat vehicle crime within the EU more efficiently, both improving vehicle registration and inspection procedures, and introducing the 17- digit VIN for agricultural and construction machinery.
