Combating cybercrime in the EU to be promoted in Jūrmala 2015. gada 25. marts
Riga, 23 March 2015. On 25-27 March, the European Police College (CEPOL) conference „Cybercrime – Strategic level" will take place in Jūrmala. The aim of the conference is to improve cooperation and harmonize the investigative methods among law enforcement authorities of the EU Member States, as well as to improve public and private partnership and cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries and candidate countries for the combat against cybercrime.
During the conference participants will discuss the EU's policy planning in the field of combating cybercrime and the EU operational cooperation among the Member States, including with third countries, as well as perspective for cooperation with private partners in the field of combating cybercrime and cyber threat prevention. Also, the existing cooperation problems related to various national legal frameworks, as well as the technical supply and provision of the highly qualified staff of the police authorities will be evaluated. The target audience of the conference are the department heads of the police forces of EU Member States, responsible for combating cybercrime.
A special focus will be devoted to the cooperation with the law enforcement authorities from the Eastern Partnership countries in solving and preventing the cybercrime cases. Also, there will be discussions on those issues and challenges, which impede to investigate successfully the crimes involving organized criminal groups.
The conference will be attended by 83 experts from EU Member States, representatives of the European Commission, the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union, Europol and CEPOL, representatives of the Eastern Partnership country (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine), Turkey, United States and the private partner companies.
